Shimmy Cash, the man behind NDNGirls has been actively involved in the adult web since 1997. After webmastering for over a decade he began to film his own original unique content for web and DVD, and travels all over the US and Canada in search of models for his unique ethnic niche of native american indian girls.
How did you get started in online adult publishing?
I got started by accident, like most people. Back in my college days I was designing websites for mom & pop stores and getting nowhere, then discovered adult banner ad programs. I ran free sites for about a year with sponsor ads, then started a few paysites. Made very good money up until around 2003, then crashed and burned like a lot of sites. I got back into adult in 2009, attended several tradeshows, and landed a few roles as talent for some west coast studios. Then I started filming my own exclusive content… native american indian for, NDNgirls.com
Why native american girls?
Well, I wanted to carve out a unique niche for myself in this hyper competitive market, and also create something rather special that would be hard for someone else to replicate. I have to travel far and wide to some very remote places to film these girls, and the trade-off is you have a unique product that is a micro niche out there in the vast sea of cookiecutter sites that are flooding the adult web. To me they all look about the same, and I always will opt for fresh faces. The other factor was that in my hiatus from adult from 2003-2008 I worked an odd job on an indian reservation as a security guard and an accountant. The whole time I was there my brain kept churning out ideas and concepts for an adult website, and there you have it.
Any advice for aspiring webmasters/producers?
I am one of those myself, still humbly learning.
I would highly suggest you shoot your own content that way it’s exclusive to your site, you own the rights to it, and you can do with it as you please. It just gives you so much more latitude to be able to sell your video on the web, dvd, mobile, etc… and also to put your own personal touch on the finished product is quite nice. For under $1000 you can get a used Canon GL1, Nikon D40, and start making your own stuff. I used to spend a fortune on content before and never realized it was so efficient to produce your own. It helps if you have a little fun with it too.
Any closing thoughts/advice?
Contrary to what many think, there is still lots of money in adult. It’s imperative that you have fun with whatever you’re doing and produce an end product that you enjoy and can relate to, then the work doesn’t seem like work at all. This helps a lot when you’re editing videos and marketing your sites all day… You just don’t get burnt out as easily. I would say whatever kind of personal fetish or kink you might have, get out there and film it! You’ll have lots of fun and make a decent living so long as you keep it real and stay true to your niche

Solid interview. Good to know the aesthetics of an aspiring entrepreneur and tracing the success route backwards always puts a smile on the face. All I had to say is forget the niche, as long as its legal who cares
Good job Shimmy Cash, and kudos to you as well for publishing this guest interview post.
Porn is very top-heavy dominated by a few production companies. It’s not as easy to get your foot in the door as the interviewee suggests. I had an idea for a video site for my university, as there are PLENTY of girls on our campus who would love to show off their everything in exchange for a little cash or alcohol. I was informed that it was against my school’s policy, so we didn’t end up doing it.
The main problem with porn, however, is that it’s impossible to sell or take the business public.
